As the youngest son of Stan & Leone Pollard, who founded Ambassador Tours in 1955, Gary M. Pollard has travel in his veins. Since joining the business in 1981, he has worked hard to follow in his parents’ footsteps. “It wasn’t a rite of passage,” he quips, “to take over the business. My folks started me sorting travel catalogues and running errands while I was attending Echols Travel School.” In 1988, he became a Certified Travel Counselor. Keying on their parents’ legacy, Gary and his partner/brother Bruce Pollard have worked together to make the company a nationally recognized (and one of the largest family-owned) travel industry leaders. Gary is the recipient of many travel industry honors, including being named one of the top 100 “rising stars” in the industry by (Travel Agent Magazine). “Travel is the only real job I’ve ever had,” he says. “It is my life and, with more worldwide travel excursions than I can recount, I am proud that my unique travel knowledge bodes well for all of our clients.” Gary has served on many travel-related advisory boards and currently is a member of the Advisory Board of Cruise Lines International Association.
